3 Healthy Spots in Portland

Hey guys! It’s Em from @theportlandfoodies on IG. I have decided to start a blog to be able to share deeper about the spots I love in Portland Oregon and Vancouver Washington. I first want to share a little about me!

I moved to the area in January of 2020, so I have been here about 5.5 years. And we just fall more and more in love with Portland! It has been so fun exploring, trying food and going to local spots. On my Instagram page I share a lot of this. You guys seem to really like when I share my travels too- so it has been fun showing that as well! Speaking of, we have some fun local trips coming up soon. We are headed to San Juan Islands in September to explore Friday Harbor. If you have been there please share some recommendations with me. We have been to Orcas Island but did not go over to Friday Harbor!

Ok so let’s chat about some Portland eats. Though I am not a health account, I do enjoy some healthy eats that make me feel good. So I want to share 3 local spots that are more on the healthier side. Let me know if you have tried any of these spots!

Carioca Bowls

I am sure you have hear about this iconic Acai bowl spot on Albert street. It is a beautiful building, with a gorgeous large outdoor patio. They are dog friendly (which is always a plus for us) and I can always easily find parking. Yes when you go here get their Acai bowls but you CANNOT miss out on their cheese bread. They are gluten free and they even have a dairy free version too. We LOVE these and always have to get them.

Their Yogi Bowl (my favorite)

You won’t regret going here. The owner is super nice and you may even see his cute labradoodle wandering around too. You can order food and hang out there and they even offer catering!

Shroom Coffee & Bar

This is a new cafe located on Burnside. They tend to get pretty busy. But it is worth the wait. Their cafe is so beautiful. The owner is a graphic designer so you can tell she had fun decorating. I mean they have a wall made out of books. It is so beautiful!

So Shroom Coffee is known of their mushroom adaptogen coffees. Which means it is good for your brain. We loved trying their unique drinks. Plus they had some tasty avocado tarts as well. And another bonus, this spot is dog friendly as well! They have dog treats at the counter too!

Harlow

Harlow was a spot I randomly found when hosting a thrifting event on Division with my Supper Club women’s group. They have a beautiful, green space with tons of seating.

They have juices, smoothies, bowls, sandwiches and more. Everything on their menu is gluten free, organic and vegetarian. But trust me when I say you will not miss the meat. They have an amazing chickpea “tuna” sandwich that I dream of - truly so good. This is a spot I know I will continue to come back to.

So how did I do? Have you been to any of these spots or did I give you a new place to try? Hopefully the later. I hope you continue to check out my blog posts. And remember if you aren’t already, give me a follow on Instagram and TT. My username is @theportlandfoodies. I love chatting with people over there, so you can always send me a DM with thoughts or questions!

Have a tasty day!
